Pixar's Coco Gets a Sequel

"Coco 2" is Happening...

Pixar is developing a sequel to its 2017 animated hit, which grossed $814 million at the box office and won the Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song ("Remember Me").

Original “Coco” director Lee Unkrich is returning to helm the sequel alongside co-director Adrian Molina. The announcement was by Disney CEO Bob Iger, who said... “While the film is just in the initial stages, we know it will be full of humor, heart, and adventure. And we can’t wait to share more soon.

The original film follows aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, who enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great-grandfather, a legendary singer.

The film is set to hit theaters in 2029
